Votes buying is not corruption? This is according to BN candidate’s reply to a Merdekareview interview published today. Isa said that he was involved in `money politics’ which ran foul of the UMNO’s codes of ethics for candidates-and got penalised for that. He was adamant that `money politcs’ -an euphamism for votes buying is `acceptable’ and is not corruption! he claimed that his candidature will not retard the PM’s anti-graft campaign.
How does he proposed to solve this `money politics’ problem?
He claimed that once the UMNO constitution is changed in coming general assembly then money politics would become history in UMNO! A bit like confirming the PM’s description that Isa’s mistake was simply `technical’ and not ethical!
This candidate should be read the Election Offences Act which specifically ban votes buying and the heavy penalty for such offence!
