It is clear that BN is trying to capitalise on what they perceive as their gains in voters perception by holding the election earlier than all previous by-elections. If BN persist in its gains then a Perak state elections may be a possibility to end political uncertainty there. The huge historical winning margin of over 5000 votes in Permatang Pasir by the past Assemblyman means that it is all likely that some flow back to BN is possible anyway.
Other factors which highlight the rush of the by-election (only 9 days from announcement by SPR) are: the SPR does not mind to hold the election during Ramadan; many preparation is needed to administer the election eg recruiting election staff. There must be other factors which cause SPR to choose such a short time to administer a by-election.
