From a conversation with PKR election director Saifudin Nasution at 2.30pm, MAFREL was told that PKR will look into adjusting the campaign timetable to make way for Dr Mansur’s participation at the candidates debate on Thursday (May 28th) where 2 of the 3 independent candidates (Aminah & Kamarul)have agreed to attend. The debate has been scheduled to start from 8.00pm and held at Moral Uplifting Society(capacity 1000), Tanah Liat, Penanti. The positive thing from the conversation was that Nasution reassured the organiser that he understand the rationale for doing the debate ie in the interests to promote more healthy election culture. The 4th candidate in the Penanti by-election(Nai-Khan Ari) refused to take part in the debate on the strange ground that debating among the candidates is not considered `healthy’ culture for him. Wonder how he will be debating in the State Assembly and face the voters if he ever have a chance to be aYB!
UPDATE: At the launch of Dr Mansor’s 6-point manifesto this morning PKR leaders reportedly hammered BN/UMNO for running away from facing the voters in Penanti-and to make it consistent, they said they will not run away from any public debates involving their candidate! Another step to the confirmation of Dr Mansor’s participation in the public debate.
So watch out this space for further details!
Yesterday police stopped a forum organised by MAFREL 1 hour before the forum,on the ground of obstructing traffic, which the police
seems to find out only at the last hour. The forum was forced to be moved out of Penanti to the MAFREL Operation Centre at Dewan JKKK Indera Muda, which is just outside the border of the Penanti constituency. As a result the forum was aborted and replaced by a press conference.
