UPDATE: Confirmed that Selangor DAP Assemblyman M Manoharan want to resign to allow the people to elect a new rep-according to his wife who visited him today at Kamunting. He will meet with party chairperson Karpal Singh on May 19th to announce his decision officially. So: a new by-election is on the horizon again-but this time it is like a fire that burn closer to the nation’s nerve center!
ISA detainee M Manoharan is reportedly considering of resigning from his State Assembly seat which he won at Kota Alam Shah because he is not able to personally service his constituency. Implications: if this is confirmed it will be the first of the series of by-elections involving DAP, happen in Selangor, and once again pile up pressure on new UMNO president to face up to another unenviable position. However Gerakan -who has been given the opportunity to run for that seat, may be relief if there were to be another walk-over, given its bad performance in the last general election. Manoharan won the seat with a formidable majority of 7184 votes against a Gerakan’s newbie.
The confirmation will come this Saturday when Manoharan’s wife visit him at Kamunting detention center.
