According to SPR’s Wan Ahmad the voting rate at about 12.00noon was about 40%, and this was expected to rise to 50% by 1.00pm. However it has not shown that voters are particularly motivated to come out to vote-perhaps reflecting that the polling day today fall on a working day -which discouraged voters taking lift from work. However the transport situation around town areas are rather jammed packed, accoridng to all feedbacks.
The situation in Batang Ai is different in that many polling centres have closed by now because there are few voters in them eg around 100-200. 14 of the ballot boxes will be transported, without being accompanied by any party agents or observers, by boats or helicopter to Lubuk Antu for counting purpose-a move which open the door to manupulation. Mafrel Sarawak has written to SPR to complained about this.
