RTM offer free air time to BN MB to air his party’s views to the Perakians-but RTM refused to entertain a similar request from the Perak and Selangor PR MB last year. This shows that there is no level playing field between the 2 contending parties for Perak’s state power.
BN gov’t reaches out to Perakians with ‘Pak Ngah’ radio show
IPOH, March 1 – The “Deme Tanya, Pak Ngah Jawab” (You Ask, Pak Ngah Replies) programme launched with the cooperation of Perak FM radio station today will be the new communication medium between the people and the state government and vice versa.
The Perak government information chief, Datuk Hamdi Abu Bakar said the programme, which was proposed by the Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, was aimed at disseminating information and tackling contemporary issues faced by the people.
“Every complaint lodged during the programme will be forwarded to the related agencies the very next day and I personally will monitor the development and respond to the complainants immediately,” he told a press conference here, today.
Hamdi said he was “Pak Ngah” and also the moderator for the programme.
In a move which shows that the contending parties for state power in Perak are not acting on a level playing field the public funded RTM is allowing the BN MB to run a free program to air its views. This contrast with RTM’s policy when it turned down a similar request from Selangor’s PR MB last year.
Perak RTM Director Noriaini Idris believed that the collaboration would enable the radio station to be the number one choice among the Perakians, besides strengthening the friendly ties between the state government and the people.
She said the one-hour programme, to be aired every Sunday at 9am, will be extended indefinitely if the response was good.
Listeners can lodge their complaints or feedback to Pak Ngah by calling 05- 5469955 or send an SMS to 32728. – Bernama
