MAFREL had reported that A Selangor Exco had been sighted to abuse Exco car to visit P/Pauh election campaign. With the help of a journalist from Merdekareview we get this response from Elizabeth Wong -Selangor State Executive member : she excused herself by saying that she was on the way from Ipoh to Penang for official business and did not have time to change vehicle when she dropped by to check out P/Pauh election campaign. Is such excuse acceptable? If so then all the BN and other government office holders would have found an escape by just citing an official business as a way to abuse their official vehicles for party campaign purposes!
As a member of BERSIH she should set a good example to show that her past concern over free and fair elections are not just for political point scoring -but something which she cares about in a genuine way. MAFREL will forward her response to our election watch colleague in BERSIH for their response.
To be fair Eli was not the only one doing this. She was following the examples set by the PM and the DPM who have been abusing official vehicles plus police outriders to campaign all over the country, all these years. We hope that all others will owe up and stop the practice forthwith.
We wish to compliment all politicians-whether from BN or PR for not abusing their official vehicles -including the Penang CM Lim Guan Eng, who found time to change his vehicle on the way to P Pauh.
