The results of Penanti by-election are; Mansor Othman : 6052 votes (-1294 votes from Fairuz’s 7346 at Mar 2008) Nai Khan Ari : 494 votes Aminah Abdullah : 392 votes Kamarul : 56 votes Voters’ turn out : 46.15% (-35.95% From 82.1% at Mar 2008)

Only about 6824 voters have voted by 4.00pm, or 44.4%, in strong contrast to the 82% achieved in the last General Elections. With such a low turn out rate PKR’s candidate Mansor look set not to get near Fairuz’s 7000 votes.

Mafrel observer report that a SK Tanah Liat KTM(presiding officer) slept off in the voting station due to lack of voters turning up to vote. 4593 voters have voted as of 2.oopm, or 38.77 %, according to SPR. This figure is so low that it render the achievement of the votes by resigned PKR rep Fairuz, doubtful. Fairuz won 7346 votes in the last General Election, beating BN candidates by 2219 votes. At 12.00noon 29.83% of voters voted.
